We have noticed that our most successful students are those who take
advantage of our numerous counseling opportunities.
Tuesday Night Family Program
TEAM - Ropes & Experiential - 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
at the SRC Campus
This program allows
parents/guardians and their child to learn new communication methods to promote appropriate behavior by young
people in school and at home. Students may earn credit for 25 points and
have their days shortened by 5 days (only for students on 20 day
placements). To receive credit the student and a parent/guardian must
attend two (2) Tuesday night classes in their entirety and the student must be in
compliance with all other SRC requirements. Please be on time. Late
arrivals will not be admitted. Students must be in uniform during these
meetings. Please do not bring young children to the meetings.
Counseling Opportunities (provided during regular school hours)
Individual Counseling
The SRC counselor, a licensed professional
counselor (LPC), will work with each student to assess their
individual needs for referral to counseling services. Referral to community-based counseling services will
be provided to parents upon
request or as needed.
Tuesday Night Follow-Up
Group counseling conducted by the SRC
counselor with students who have participated in the Tuesday Night Family
Program to reinforce what they learned.
Dallas Council on Drug Abuse
Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors (LCDC)
will provide the following opportunities (with parental consent) to students:
- Screening for Substance Abuse (SASSI) - Survey given individually to
students to determine if they are at-risk for drug abuse and counseling is
then provided as needed. Results
are confidential.
- Toward No Drugs (TND) - Social skills program which emphasizes
obtaining a drug-free lifestyle by learning communication and decision making
skills. Alcohol and other drug education is also a part of the curriculum.
