Pioneered by the Irving ISD Food
Service Department, classroom pizza parties saw explosive growth in
the district in the 2009-2010 school year. When the state’s
nutrition policy took pizza parties as a motivational tool away from
most schools, the IISD Food Service Department came to the rescue
and developed in-classroom pizza parties. Irving campus
administrators, from high schools to early childhood schools, now
use this innovative program as a way to reward students, motivate
students, or to otherwise positively impact and influence student
performance and behavior.
Below are some facts about
classroom pizza parties, through early May, 2010:
The classroom pizza parties
feature the following:
The meals are delivered to the
classroom by uniformed employees, and feature high quality

In short, the classroom pizza
party becomes a memorable lunch event, sure to please, motivate, and
reward all participants.
“The classroom pizza parties
provided through Food Service is a wonderful way to reward students.
The students love the higher-quality pizza and the teachers love
not having to make the arrangements. The parties are really a
win-win for everyone!” says Dr. Adam Grinage, principal at Brown
elementary school.
The IISD is proud to offer
classroom pizza parties to all district schools, and looks forward
to many more years of serving Irving students!
