MacArthur Named Blue Ribbon School
For the third year in a row, IISD boasts a new
U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School. The first high
school in the district to receive the honor, MacArthur was named a
Blue Ribbon school last week. Principal Tracie Fraley learned of the
award via a letter from the Department of Education.
“Congratulations on your school’s selection as a
2001-2002 Blue Ribbon School,” the letter read. “You are one of 172
schools nationally recognized. After the rigorous and lengthy
selection process, your reward is well-deserved.”
District and school officials will be invited to
an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. later this year. Last year,
Good was named a Blue Ribbon School, and in 1999-2000, Lamar had the
honor.
