Students to Attend Summer Program

A total of four Irving ISD students have been selected for Education in Action’s Lone Star Leadership Academy for summer 2010.

Houston Middle School students Kathryn Overland and Bedrick Topovich were announced as program attendees earlier this month. Joining Overland and Topovich are Skye Graham of Houston and Mason Shelley-Cieslawski of Lamar Middle School.

Overland and Topovich will attend the summer program in Dallas/Fort Worth and Graham and Shelley-Cieslawski will attend in Houston/Galveston. In order to be selected, students must be recommended by a school official, display academic success, and demonstrate leadership ability. The week-long program includes sessions to develop leadership skills and learning about Texas and state government. Sessions also include exposure to career and internship opportunities and visits to many significant Texas landmarks.
