IISD Schools
Recognized for Gold Performance
During the Board of
Trustees meeting February 6, trustees recognized the 29 Irving ISD
schools for the 51 Gold Performance academic acknowledgements earned
from the Texas Education Agency.
The Gold Performance
Acknowledgement system recognized districts and schools for high
performance on 15 different indicators other than those used to
determine accountability ratings, however the district or school must be
rated Academically Acceptable or higher to be evaluated on the Gold
Performance criteria.
In addition to the
below honors, Irving ISD was awarded a Gold Performance Acknowledgement
in Social Studies.

elementary schools were recognized February 6 for the
academic acknowledgements their schools earned from Texas

Britain, Good, John Haley, Thomas Haley, Keyes, Lee, Farine,
Schulze, Elliott, Hanes, Townley, Davis, Gilbert, Townsell
and Stipes elementary schools and Wheeler Transition &
Development Center.

Cub Scout Pack 819 helped open the IISD
Board of Trustees meeting February 6 by leading attendees in the pledges
to the American and Texas flags.

Angela Warr, engineering teacher at
Nimitz High School, is recognized by Board of Trustees President Heather
Ashley and IISD Superintendent Dr. Dana T. Bedden for being named 2012
Outstanding New Teacher of the Year by the North Texas Technology
Educators Association.

Dr. Alice Owen, division director of
instructional technology, is recognized by Trustees President Heather
Ashley and Superintendent Dr. Dana T. Bedden for receiving the Texas
Computer Education Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Fifth grade students from Thomas Haley
Elementary School are recognized by Trustees President Heather Ashley
and Superintendent Dr. Dana T. Bedden for winning the Aiming for the
Stars Academic Bowl at North Lake College January 31. Pictured are (from

The MacArthur High School Jazz Band,
