IISD Recognized for Energy Efficiency

Oncor presented a check to Irving ISD for $761,798 for affecting positive changes by means of upgrading to more efficient mechanical and electrical equipment at district facilities.

Part of Oncor’s “Take a Load Off, Texas” program, the rebate recognizes IISD for reducing energy consumption by upgrading equipment, implementing motion-sensing light control devices, completing a district-wide lighting retrofit, monitoring after-hours consumption, and completing construction of Johnson Middle School – the first net zero public school building in Texas.

Oncor recognized Irving ISD with an incentive check for $761,798 for energy efficiency practices as part of the company’s “Take a Load Off, Texas” program. Consent Agenda

During the regular called meeting of the IISD Board of Trustees for October 3, Trustees approved the following consent agenda items: minutes of noon work session and regular board meeting on Monday, September 19, 2011 … an interlocal agreement with Arlington Independent School District … interlocal agreement with Northwest Independent School District … final list of appraisers for the PDAS … selected members for IISD Athletic Hall of Fame committee … amendment to construction manager’s contract for Lady Bird Johnson Middle School bond construction project.

Community Input Items

Trustees approved the following community input items October 3: class size waivers a program to secure corporate sponsors and authorizing the superintendent of schools to implement the program … amendment to multi-year construction budget and 2011-2012 capital projects budget … the election, renewal, and resignation of employees as recommended by the superintendent of schools … accepted gifts and donations to the district.

Noon Work Session

During the noon work session, Trustees: received a presentation regarding single member districts...conducted a discussion with Dr. Mack Hines regarding “The Skin They’re In” … discussed school colors and logos for high schools … received information regarding completion of three-year security audit in compliance with Texas Education Code (37.108).
