Psencik Honored as Teacher of the
Month
Deborah Psencik, history teacher at
Houston, was honored as Teacher of the Month for May. Psencik has served
the District for 16 years, teaching at John Haley and Thomas Haley
before moving to Houston six years ago. She is a team leader, department
chair, campus improvement committee member, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes sponsor, and a campus representative for the Association of
Texas Professional Educators. Her principal, Robbin Wall, says that
Psencik arrives at work at 7 a.m. and doesn’t leave until all her work
is done. “Debbie Psencik has been one of the best teachers at Sam
Houston since beginning her time here,” Wall said. “And for the past
three years, she has been one of the main reasons we’ve enjoyed the
success academically that has taken place at Sam Houston.”
McClaskey Recognized as Employee of the Month
Janet Lee McClaskey, library and
audio/visual clerk at Keyes, was recognized as Employee of the Month for
May. McClaskey began her career with Irving ISD in 1981 as the
library/AV clerk at Crockett. She has served libraries at Nimitz,
Crockett, Brown, Farine and Keyes. She also serves as a mentor to new
library clerks across the District. Her principal, Dianna Hopper, says
that she’s a great problem-solver who works well with administrators,
teachers and children alike. Ms. McClaskey is active at St. Luke’s
Catholic Church.
