DeBerry Honored, New Trustees Sworn In
Outgoing trustee Will DeBerry was
honored with gifts and kind words before his successor, Michael Hill
took the oath of office along with incumbent Barbara Cardwell. DeBerry
was presented with a special “life-long service” Crystal Apple Award
from the Irving chapter of the Association of Texas Professional
Educators, recognizing his service in two terms on the board and
honoring his commitment to the success of students in IISD schools.
DeBerry was also honored by his fellow board members with an engraved
pen set, board portrait, and a plaque and gavel recognizing his two
terms as Board president. Board member Owen DeWitt read a proclamation
commending DeBerry for his service and presented DeBerry with a framed
copy of the proclamation. Hill and Cardwell were sworn in by Justice Ed
Kinkeade from the Fifth District Court of Appeals. Both Trustees ran
unopposed in the recent election for places one and two on the Board.
