Trustees Recognize Academic Decathlon Teams
IISD Academic Decathlon students,
coaches and high school principals were recognized for their
participation in the program which features competition in 10 academic
events. The Nimitz High School team won the regional competition for the
20th time in 23 years, earning 43,796 points and finishing in fourth
place at state competition.
Team members from Irving High
School, MacArthur High School, Nimitz and Singley Academy were
introduced by their coaches, who told trustees about each team’s hard
work and dedication. |

Approved Resolution #09-10-100 accepting an agreement between Irving
ISD and the Kick Drugs Out of America Foundation for the
continuation of KickStart martial arts programs at Austin Middle
School, Crockett Middle School, Houston Middle School, and Lamar
Middle School, and the start of a program at Bowie Middle School at
a total cost of $175,000. |

construction program, moving construction of middle school #8 to

Elementary School, Good Elementary School, and Wheeler Training &
Development Center to phase III. |

Approved Resolution #09-10-105 pertaining to the election and
resignation of personnel as recommended by the interim
superintendent of schools. |

Received announcements from the administration regarding the Irving
ISD Job Fair scheduled for April 17; Texas Assessment of Knowledge
and Skills testing; and Information about the 2010 IISD Board of
Trustees Election. |

Received information regarding the IISD 2010 Board of Trustees
election scheduled for May 8, including the filing of Pedro Portillo
and Gwen Craig running for Place 5; Jerry Christian running
unopposed for Place 6; and Jamey Stegall and Ronda Huffstetler
running for Place 7. |

Discussed 2010-2011 draft salary schedules for teachers reflecting
the average use of 2 percent new money to fund teacher pay raises. |
