Duhon Honored as Teacher of the
Month
C. David Duhon,
special education teacher at Secondary Reassignment Center (SRC), was
honored by Trustees as Teacher of the Month for January. Duhon graduated
from Orangefield High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
political science and master’s degree in world trade from University of
Dallas.
After working in
private sector business, Duhon sought alternative certification to
become a teacher. In 1994 he became special education teacher at Thomas
Haley Elementary School, then in 1996 he moved to Houston Middle School.
Duhon became special education teacher at Gilbert in 1998, and then
transferred to MacArthur High School in 2004. He became special
education teacher at SRC in 2007.

McCormick Recognized as Employee of the Month
Dwan McCormick,
warehouse clerk in the Facilities Services Department, was recognized by
Trustees as Employee of the Month for January.
McCormick joined
Irving ISD in 1992 as food service substitute. She joined the Warehouse
Department as a delivery helper in 1997, and in 2000 became stock
handler. In 2009 she was appointed as warehouse clerk for facilities
services.

IISD Honors Board of Trustees
After performing a
brief musical performance, the MacArthur High School Jazz Singers
presented each member of the Board of Trustees a token of appreciation,
on behalf of the district, for their service in observance of Texas’
School Board Appreciation Month.
Trustees were honored for volunteering countless hours each year to
ensure quality education for Irving’s children.

Gold Performing Schools Recognized
As a result of recent performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge &
Skills, 24 IISD schools have received a total of 60 acknowledgements.
The Gold Performance Acknowledgement System recognizes districts and
schools for high performance on 14 different indicators other than those
used to determine accountability ratings.

Partners with Union Bower
Board of Trustees President Jerry Christian (left) recognizes the City

partnership with Union Bower Center for Learning. Pictured with
