Jones Re-Elected, Ashley Elected Effective May 18

During the regular IISD Board of Trustees meeting April 6, trustees declared Heather Ashley and Valerie Jones, who both ran unopposed, as elected effective May 18.

The filing deadline for trustee candidates was 5 p.m. March 9, and the deadline for write-in candidates was 5 p.m. March 16. Heather Ashley, filing for Place 3, and Valerie Jones, the incumbent in Place 4, were unopposed for election to the board. The official documents for declaring the candidates elected and cancelling the May 9 election were submitted to the trustees and approved as Order #08-09-03. The order will be posted in English and Spanish at each polling location on the date of the regular election.

Jones, Place 4, currently serves as secretary and will begin her second term on the board. Ashley, Place 3, will replace Randy Stipes who is completing his third term.  The candidates will be installed and will take office during the May 18, 2009 Board Meeting, that would have followed the regular election.
