Johnson Honored as Teacher of the Month
Renee Johnson, science and literacy
teacher at Lively Elementary School, was honored as Teacher of the Month
for November. Johnson is a graduate of Bowie High School in Arlington
and attended University of North Texas (UNT), graduating Cum Laude with
a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Before joining IISD, Johnson served as event
coordinator for UNT College of Music, taught adult ESL classes, and
worked as a substitute teacher for Arlington ISD. After earning
alternative certification in 2005 to teach early childhood-fourth grade,
Johnson joined Irving ISD at Lively Elementary School. Serving as fourth
grade teacher for three years, she became science and literacy teacher
at Lively in 2008.

Guerrero Recognized as Employee of the Month
Silvia Guerrero, building manager at
Clifton Early Childhood, was recognized as Employee of the Month for
November. Guerrero joined Irving ISD in August 1999, serving as
custodial substitute, and was promoted to night custodian in September
1999. In May 2000, she was promoted to night lead at Britain Elementary
School where she served until 2005. In May 2005, Guerrero was
transferred to Irving High School to work as day custodian and was then
promoted into her current position at Clifton. In addition to her work
at Clifton, Guerrero takes an active role in the Parent-Teacher
Association.

on first reading and filing authorization to comply with changes
within TAC 74.30 relating to identification of honors courses and
adding Advanced Placement and pre-calculus classes to the policy. |

accepting first reading and filing authorization of revised Board
Policy CH (Local) revising the amount for bids, offers, proposals,
awards and contracts that must be authorized or approved by the
Board of Trustees from $25,000 to $75,000 in order for the district
to operate more efficiently. |

pertaining to the election and resignation of personnel. |
