Evans Honored as Teacher of the Month
Kenny Evans, automotive collision repair
teacher for the Academy, was honored as Teacher of the Month for March.
Evans came to the District in 1996, taking over the auto collision
repair program at Irving High. In 2000, the program was relocated to
Ratteree where it currently remains as part of the Academy. The program
was the first of its kind in the area and Evans’ work ensures that its
curriculum remains on the cutting edge. Before coming to IISD, Evans
worked in the auto body industry for Lee Jarmon Ford and Grand Prairie
Ford. A graduate of Irving High, Evans volunteers his time with several
community organizations, including the Meadows Foundation and the
American Cancer Society.
Brown Recognized as Employee of the Month
Gary Wayne Brown, small appliance and
laundry technician at the Service Center, was recognized as Employee of
the Month for March. Brown began his career with the District on April
14, 1997 as a member of the grounds maintenance crew. From grounds,
Brown moved into the position of preventive maintenance helper in the
maintenance division. In 2001, he moved into his current position. Brown
has also served as interim warehouse foreman. Brown’s nomination read,
“no matter what he is asked to do, he always has a positive attitude,
does his job very well, and all the while has a smile on his face for
everyone.”
